In the early 1970's Arvil was approached by Jack McClure. Jack worked for the
"Joey Chitwood Thrill Show" and asked Arvil if he could build him a
Rocket System that could be installed on a Go Kart for drag racing. After the
details were worked out Arvil set out to build a Rocket Propulsion System having a thrust of 1000 lbs.
At the same time Glenn Blackely, a race car chassis builder, was building
a Go Kart frame in Tampa Florida. Within a few months, the Go Kart
and Rocket System were ready to be put together and begin testing.

Jack toured the
IHRA drag strips for two years at speeds of over 200 mph, with out a mishap of
any kind. A second Rocket Motor of 1500 lbs of thrust was then later
attached.

This pictures shows the Kart with a
1000 lbs thrust engine.

Arvil also built several other Karts including his own personal
test Karts for some of the rocket systems.
